On September 29th, 2012 No Pain In The Playrom paid a visit to Auntie Ronnie's Day Care In the city of Long Beach. while there they taught children about Sickle Cell and Sickle Cell awareness. With the help of Ms. Mallory & Auntie Ronnie, they taught the children the differnce between a normal blood cell and a Sickle Cell using illustrations and different physical activities. One of the activites brought the children together to form a group of Sickle Cells trying to pass through a passage way. Another activity showed the children the difference between Sickle Cell Disease & Sickle Cell Trait by placing the letters A & S on the backs of the stickers the children recieved as gifts. At the end of the presentation the children had a presentation of their own and rewarded Diamond Ray & Omeka with their own special thank you cards to show their gratitude for making them aware of Sickle Cell. Now all in attendance are more of Sickle Cell and they are sure to remember that there is No Pain In The Playroom.

Playroom representatives attended the "What'z Da Count on Bullying" event at Locke High School in Los Angeles on the evening of Tuesday May 29th. The event was held prior to the Locke High School Athletics Awards Banquet and was hosted by What'z Da Count spokesman SFC. Farron Dozier whose organization focuses on Sickle Cell Trait Awareness. The evenings festivites included music provided by DJ Tantrum and speakers on topics that included Sickle Cell Trait, Sickle Cell Anemia, Lupus and the key topic Bullying. One of the evenings main highlights was speaker Curtis Williams whose book " Think Like A Leader, Not A Follower" encourages young people to be leaders in their community and stand up against bullying. the event was very succesful as it gave the students an opportunity to be educated on various topics and gave them the tools and information they need to continue to be successful. The evening concluded with the students recieveing their various awards for academic and athletic achievement but left them with a question that we should all ask ourselves "Am I a leader or a follower?" which one are you?
